Split the bill by seat in Platter POS

Overview

This article explains how to split a bill by seat in Platter POS. This feature allows you to divide a table’s total bill based on individual guest orders, making it easier to process separate payments for each person.

Prerequisites

  • Seat-based ordering must be used while taking the order
    ​

  • Staff access to Platter POS
    ​

  • Active table with items added

Steps

  1. Go to the Tables screen and open the required table
    ​

  2. Ensure items were added using Seat mode
    ​

    • Each seat should have its own items assigned
      ​

  3. Tap Checkout
    ​

  4. Click on Split Bill
    ​

  5. Select Split by Seat
    ​

  6. The system will automatically:
    ​

    • Divide the bill based on items assigned to each seat
      ​

    • Generate separate amounts for each guest
      ​

  7. Review each seat’s bill
    ​

  8. Proceed with payment:
    ​

    • You can take payment for each seat individually
      ​

    • Complete transactions one by one
      ​

Important Notes:

  • If items were added to the table (shared section) instead of seats:
    ​

    • Those items will be evenly distributed across all seats
      ​

  • If staff didn’t use seat mode properly:
    ​

    • The split will not reflect actual guest orders
      ​

  • Seat-based split only works correctly if:
    ​

    • Orders were assigned properly during order taking

Troubleshooting

  • Split looks incorrect:
    ​

    • Check if items were assigned to seats or added to the shared table
      ​

  • All seats show equal amounts:
    ​

    • Likely, all items were added to the table instead of individual seats
      ​

  • Missing items under a seat:

    • Items may have been added without selecting a seat

  • Unable to split properly:
    ​

    • Recheck the order structure before proceeding to billing
