Overview
This article explains how to use the Break Apart feature in Platter POS to split item quantities into individual units. This allows you to transfer, modify, or manage specific quantities instead of handling the entire item at once.
Prerequisites
Active order with item quantity greater than 1
Access to the Cuisine (Order) screen
Permission to edit or manage order items
Steps
Go to the Cuisine Page
Locate the item with a quantity greater than 1 (e.g., Qty: 4)
Press and hold the item for at least 2 seconds
Select Break Apart
The item will split into single-quantity items in the order screen
What You Can Do After Break Apart
Transfer a specific quantity to another table using the Action Button
Apply discounts or modifications to individual items
Manage items individually instead of in bulk quantity
Important Notes
The Break Apart feature works before sending and after sending the order
Only items with a quantity greater than 1 can be split
Once split, each item behaves as a separate line
Troubleshooting
If the Break Apart option is not visible:
Ensure the item quantity is greater than 1
Make sure you are pressing and holding the item, not just tapping
If the item does not split:
Hold the item for at least 2 seconds
Refresh the order screen and try again
