Viewing order details

Overview

This article explains how the order details section works in Platter during the payment process. It outlines what information appears on the right side of the invoice screen and how totals, taxes, service charges, and item details are displayed to both staff and customers.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Platter POS

  • An active order with items added

  • Tax and service charge settings configured in the Back Office (if applicable)

Order Details View

When the user taps Checkout to take payment, the right side of the invoice screen displays the order details.

The section includes four primary columns:

  • Item

  • Price

  • Qty

  • Total

Modifiers are listed under their item. On dine-in orders that use seats, items are grouped by seat.

Below the item list, Platter shows:

  • Sub total (total amount before tax)

  • Service charge (if applied, it appears here by name - right after Sub total and before the tax lines)

  • Tax (for example, Sales Tax, calculated based on the order)

  • Total (final amount including all taxes)

  • All totals are displayed at the bottom of the order details panel.

  • A similar layout is also mirrored on the Customer Facing Display, so customers can clearly view the order breakdown during checkout.

Troubleshooting

  • If totals are not updating, ensure that changes to item quantities or prices have been saved.

  • If a service charge is not appearing, confirm that it is set to Visible in the Back Office and was applied with Service charge on the invoice screen.

  • If tax is not showing, verify that standard tax settings are correctly configured.

  • If the Customer Facing Display does not match, check the device connection or refresh the display.
