Assigning order items to seats
Overview
This article explains how to use the seat-based ordering feature in Platter POS. This feature allows staff to take individual orders for each guest at the same table, organize items by seat, and split the bill accurately based on each guest’s order. It improves order clarity and streamlines billing for group dining.
Prerequisites
Floor Plan permission assigned to the user role
Basic understanding of order taking and billing
Steps
Go to Floor plan and open any table.

On the order screen, tap Seat (next to Time) above the order list to group the order by seat.

Below the order list, the seat bar shows Table plus one tab for each seat:
The number of seats is based on the number of guests
If the guest count changes (use − and + next to the guest count at the top of the screen), the number of seats updates automatically
To add items:
Select a specific seat tab first
Then choose menu items
Items will be assigned only to the selected seat
If no seat is selected:
Items will be added to the Table (shared section) by default

Tap Send order:
Items will be processed normally and sent to the kitchen

On the invoice screen (after tapping Checkout):
Items are grouped by seat based on how they were added

To split the bill:
Tap Split bill

Select Split by seat, then tap Next

The system will create one invoice for each seat’s items
Shared (table-level) items will be automatically distributed across all seats

Important Notes
Seat-based ordering is only for order organization and billing
Seat information does not appear on KDS (Kitchen Display System) and CFD (Customer Facing Display)
If staff forget to select a seat before adding items, the items go to the shared table section. To move them later, tap Actions, select the items, then tap Move to Seat.
Troubleshooting
Items are not assigned to a seat:
Make sure a seat is selected before adding items
Seats not matching guest count:
Update the guest count; seats will auto-adjust
Bill not splitting correctly:
Check if items were added to seats or left under the shared table
Confusion during billing:
Avoid mixing seat-based and table-level items unless intentional
