About Quick Service mode

Overview

This article explains how to take fast counter orders in Platter POS, such as quick-service and walk-in takeout orders.

Earlier versions of the iPad app had a separate Quick Takeout button. The current iPad app does not have a separate Quick Service mode. Counter orders are taken from the Takeout screen with New order. Only the fulfillment method is required; customer name and phone number are optional, so the order can still be placed without a table or customer.

Prerequisites

  • Active Platter POS login

  • User must have the following permissions:

    • Takeout Module

    • Payment Access

  • At least one fulfillment method (for example, Pickup) is set up in the Back Office

  • POS device must be online and synced

Steps

1. Log in to Platter POS

Open the Platter POS app and log in with any active user who has permission to access Takeout and Payments.

2. Start a Counter Order

  • Tap Takeout in the left navigation bar.

  • Tap New order.

  • Choose a Fulfillment method (required). Phone number, customer name and estimated time are optional; leave them empty for a quick counter order. Tap Take order.

  • The menu screen opens for the new order.

3. Take Order, Checkout & Finalize

  • Select items from the menu

  • Add modifiers or notes if required

  • Tap Send order to send the items to the kitchen

  • Tap Checkout

  • Take payment using:

    • Cash

    • Credit / Debit

    • Split bill

    • Other enabled payment options

After payment:

  • Tap Finalize to complete the order.

  • To cancel a payment before finalizing, tap Void next to it. To cancel the whole invoice, tap Void invoice.

  • Tap Print for a physical receipt or Digital to send a digital receipt (if the customer wants one).

4. If the Customer Wants to Pay Later

  • To leave the order unpaid, tap Takeout in the left navigation bar without finalizing the invoice.

  • All open (unpaid) takeout orders stay listed on the Takeout screen.

  • Tap the order later to open it, then complete payment and finalize.

5. Viewing Previous Invoices and Orders

If the user needs to view the last invoice or any previous order:

  • Tap Orders in the left navigation bar

  • This section displays all invoices, including:

    • Dine-in tables

    • Takeout orders

    • Delivery orders

  • Users can review, reprint, and manage completed or open invoices from this module.

Troubleshooting

  • If the Takeout button or New order is missing, verify that the user has Takeout permission

  • If no fulfillment methods appear, check Settings > Order Fulfillment in the Back Office

  • If payment options are unavailable, confirm the user has Payment access

  • If menu items are missing, check the POS sync status

  • If an order will not complete, ensure a payment method is configured and the invoice is finalized
